  • Rinse beans
  • Add to slow cooker 1 lb black beans 6 cups water (must stay completly covered, extra water ok) 1 onion 3 garlic cloves 1 bay leaf
  • high for 3+ hours or low for 6+ hours
  • check on beans after 3 hours (or 6 hour point on low):

    1. blow on spoonfull of beans, if skin peels back, they are done.
    2. add salt
    3. if done: let sit for 20-30 minutes else: continue to cook
