- Rinse beans
- Add to slow cooker 1 lb black beans 6 cups water (must stay completly covered, extra water ok) 1 onion 3 garlic cloves 1 bay leaf
- high for 3+ hours or low for 6+ hours

check on beans after 3 hours (or 6 hour point on low):
- blow on spoonfull of beans, if skin peels back, they are done.
- add salt
- if done: let sit for 20-30 minutes else: continue to cook
